B Corp – A sustainability certification that stands for transparent business practices
Youpret Finland is the first language service company in the Nordic countries to receive the B Corp certification. It’s an honor to join Patagonia, Rituals, and over 9,000 other sustainable companies that can make a real difference in the world.
B Corp is an international sustainability certification awarded to companies that pass a rigorous assessment and verification process conducted by the independent organization B Lab. In this process various aspects of a company’s operation are thoroughly evaluated, including employee policies, governance practices, and social and environmental impact.
Recognition for fair and transparent practices
The business model of certified B corporations emphasizes creating value for all stakeholders alongside achieving financial success. The certification process begins with a company updating its Articles of Association to reflect its purpose: generating positive outcomes for all stakeholders and the community, in addition to creating value for its owners.
Five pillars of sustainability
In B Corp certification a company’s impact is measured across five areas, with three of them focusing on social impact, people, and community. What sets B Corp apart from other ESG certifications is its holistic approach; assessing the company’s overall performance and impact rather than focusing solely on individual products or services.

Where do we make the greatest impact?
Youpret was founded to help the people in the most vulnerable positions in society. We help immigrants access essential services in their native language when no common language is available.
We facilitate interpreting sessions in healthcare, social services, immigration, employment, early childhood education, and schools. At the heart of this work are Youpret interpreters, who mediate critical conversations between customers and authorities.
Our Youpret technology enables us to deliver interpreting services reliably, whenever and wherever needed, bringing work opportunities directly to our interpreters.
Why did we pursue B Corp certification?
For Youpret, transparency and fairness have been core values since the beginning of our company and the development of our interpreting app. That’s why we entrusted the evaluation of our operation to independent experts.
Our goal is to be the best employer in our field, the fairest partner, and the highest-quality language service provider. With this certification, we can now more clearly identify the areas we want to improve. Even the application process alone provided us with new tools to enhance our sustainability efforts.
In the “sustainability jungle,” it can sometimes be difficult to identify which companies are genuinely sustainable and which are merely paying lip service. In the B Corp certification process a company’s actual practices and the goals embedded in its business models are assessed and scored.

It means providing jobs in remote areas through remote interpreting and effective technology as well as transparently paying fair compensation.
