In which city is interpretation available?
Today, the most popular option is to order remote interpretation, where the interpreter joins the conversation remotely via telephone. A video call is also possible.
If there are several people to be interpreted, a child is involved, or it is, for example, a trial, it is best to order an interpreter on-site. Youpret provides an interpreter on-site to all major cities in Finland: Joensuu, Hyvinkää, Iisalmi, Järvenpää, Kajaani, Kokkola, Mikkeli, Lohja, Porvoo, Rauma, Rovaniemi, Salo, Seinäjoki, Kuopio, Helsinki, Espoo, Tampere, Turku, Vantaa, Oulu, Jyväskylä, Lahti, Pori, Kotka, Lappeenranta, Hämeenlinna, Vaasa, and Varkaus.

Or you can contact Youpret's customer service at office@youpret.com or +358 45 668 8113.
Questions during the interpretation
How do I work with the interpreter?
The interpreter's task is to convey the conversation between you and your client as is, without adding or leaving anything out.
- The interpreter introduces themselves at the beginning of the interpretation and states in both languages that they are bound by confidentiality and secrecy.
- Speak directly to the person being interpreted, not to the interpreter. This creates smoother interaction and helps the interpreter convey your message as naturally as possible.
- The interpreter always interprets in the first person. The interpreter refers to themselves using the word "interpreter" when necessary, e.g., when asking a clarifying question.
- Speak a few sentences at a time and keep a short pause so that the interpreter has time to interpret the entire message to the person being interpreted.
Check out the Client's Guide (in Finnish), where you will get more tips for a successful interpretation.
How do I choose the right form of interpretation?
- Remote interpretation takes place via telephone or video meeting and is a cost-effective solution for interpretation needs. Telephone interpretation is the most common and fastest way to organize interpretation. Before starting telephone interpretation, make sure the phone connection is as good and clear as possible. Set the phone to speaker and place it on a flat, soft surface close to both parties.
- Video interpretation is recommended when several people are present in the interpretation situation or if something needs to be physically shown. Video interpretation is possible via all video conferencing services, such as Teams, Zoom, or Google Meet. The link to the video meeting can be provided when ordering the interpreter or sent directly to the interpreter's email before the interpretation begins.
- On-site interpretation provides personal and targeted interpretation for situations where the physical presence of the interpreter is necessary. The interpreter arrives on site in good time before the booked time; please make sure the interpretation details include the address and arrival instructions for the interpreter. Both parties should have eye contact with the interpreter.
- Simultaneous interpretation is the best solution for events where speakers' speech needs to be interpreted simultaneously with a few seconds' delay. One interpreter can perform simultaneous interpretation for about an hour. For interpretations longer than an hour, there must be multiple interpreters. Note that simultaneous interpretation requires interpretation equipment if the interpreter is on-site.
How do I make a conference call to the interpreter and the client?
Call the interpreter first at the booked time at the number shown in the confirmation. Ask the interpreter to wait a moment while you add the client to the call. Select "Add call" (Android) or "Add" (Apple) from the phone screen and dial the number of the client being interpreted. When the client answers the call, select "Merge calls" (Android) or "Merge" (Apple) on the screen. The conference call is now underway, and you can start the interpretation.
How does simultaneous interpretation work?
You can order simultaneous interpretation on-site or as a remote interpretation, e.g., using the interpretation function of Teams or Zoom. The interpreter interprets the speaker(s) at the event simultaneously with a few seconds' delay. For interpretations longer than 1h, two different interpreters must be ordered.
To ensure the interpretation goes smoothly, please ensure clear speaking turns, provide the event program and any preliminary information to the interpreter, agree on arrangements with the interpreter, and if you have ordered on-site interpretation, check the availability and functionality of the interpretation equipment. (Note! Interpretation equipment is not available through Youpret.)
You can read more about simultaneous interpretation on this page (in Finnish).
Interpretation assessment
How do assessments work?
After each interpretation, the user is asked to leave a star rating (1-5 stars) on the success of the interpretation. You can also leave an open comment in the text field.
With the help of the assessment, Youpret is able to guarantee the best possible experience for both clients and interpreters. The interpreter's overall score is the average of all ratings left by users.
If the interpretation went flawlessly, leave five stars for the interpreter. If there was something to correct in the interpretation, you can leave a suitable rating and comment in the comment field. All feedback is of paramount importance to interpreters! The assessments you provide are delivered to interpreters anonymously.
Customer information
Why do you need my customer information?
Youpret needs the customer's phone number and email address so that user verification and interpretation can be successful. The phone number is seen only by interpreters who contact the client by calling or via video connection. We always send booking confirmations by email. We do not disclose users' information to third parties.
Summaries and interpretation history
Where can I find a summary of my interpretations?
All Youpret interpretations and reports can be found in the Youpret app or by logging into your account via browser. Easy and transparent!
After logging in, you can browse interpretation history on the Interpretations page.
Payment and invoicing
Who can I contact about invoicing?
If you have any questions related to invoicing, please contact laskutus@youpret.com.
How does invoicing happen?
Interpretations are invoiced to the organization as a summary invoice with electronic invoicing. You can see all the interpretations you have ordered while logged into the Youpret app or browser version.
What reference information do I need to provide?
The required reference information varies by organization. The most common requirements are the name and/or date of birth of the client being interpreted or the cost center number. The details of the client being interpreted help in allocating the invoice.
Who has ordered the invoiced interpretation?
The orderer's details can be found in the invoice attachment.
Why was the interpretation invoiced even though it was canceled?
The orderer must cancel the interpretation assignment in accordance with the cancellation terms so that it is not invoiced. If the cancellation occurs against the terms, the service provider has the right to invoice the interpretation in question. For example, if the cancellation term for the interpretation is 24 hours before the interpretation start time and the cancellation occurs later than this, the interpretation will be invoiced.
Can I pay for interpretation with a credit card?
Paying with a credit card is possible when using the latest version of the Youpret app. A pre-authorization is made on the credit card according to the booked interpretation time. The payment is charged according to the time used once the interpretation has been completed successfully. If the interpretation does not take place, the pre-authorization is canceled.
Feedback on interpretation
Where can I leave feedback on interpretation?
You can always provide feedback regarding interpretation and other operations in the app immediately after the interpretation using the star rating (1–5 stars) and by leaving open feedback in the text field. Additionally, you can always contact our customer service at office@youpret.com or +358 45 668 8113.
